Mandala art is a geometric pattern that represents the universe or deities in otherworldly worlds. The word "mandala" comes from the Sanskrit word for "circle" or "center". Mandalas are often presented in a circle, but can also be square, and the patterns start from the center. The colors, shapes, and repeated patterns of mandalas symbolize the universality of the human race and the connection between nature and society. Mandalas can be created using a variety of different techniques, including painting, drawing, and collage. They can also be created using sand, stones, or other natural materials.
Mandala Creation: Finding Symmetry and Balance
To create a mandala, start by placing a ruler on your paper and measuring out a distance from the center dot. Make marks at this distance above, below, to the left, and the right of the center dot. Repeat this process to form as many rows of dots as you desire. Then, connect these dots with straight lines, creating geometric shapes and patterns. Next, draw another series of dots at the same distances from the center as your first series of dots. Use the ruler to connect these new dots with straight lines as well.
Finally, connect the dots into circles, forming intricate designs within each circle. As you draw, focus on symmetry and balance, allowing your creativity to flow freely and guide your hand. The resulting mandala will be a reflection of your inner harmony and artistic expression. Join Zenith of Art and learn to draw mandalas!
